Extra Credit Thanksgiving Assignment

This Thanksgiving we went to a friends house with another family- so there was A LOT of people which meant A LOT of wonderful food. It was soooo good and fun to spend time with everyone. In the end there was still a ton of food left - yay for leftovers!

mmmmm, mashed potatoes (before). They are perfect, just look. They look like marble.
After

My mom's friend heard about this on Opera: It's sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows!! So good.

yum.

After

Stuffing of course! A little soft- it was pretty dark in the house, so I had to use a low shutterspeed.

Didn't get a chance to get the full turkey (22 pounder!) But it looked very nice.

Their very beautiful dining table.

My dad's plate.

My mom and I made an apple pie- It looked perfect and was ssssssooooooo good, if I do say so myself. :)
That's all.

Final

These are my 6 favorite images from Fall Term. I found that the majority of them are from the monochromatic assignment. I really really liked that assignment. I think maybe I took my time more with this one, unlike the others, I must admit. And after editing, they turned out very nice.

This is one of favorites. This lighting is great, if I do say so myself, and I love the deep shadow in the creases of the cloth. I love it.

I really love this one. The lighting is nice and I love how the caramels are the exact same color as the table. I also like how you can vaguely see their reflection in the pollished wood.

This was from the numbers assignment. The lighting is really great again. Lighting is super important to any shot, I think. I also like how this depicts 50 in a creative way.

I love this portrait. She is generally a happy person, but there is also that hidden saddness which comes out in this photograph. The angle and lighting is really good too.

I really like this one. It has really good focus and nice light. I'm also flattered that Slade's friend liked it :)

I love this one. I like how I was able to get really close, and she didn't move! The focus is really nice. It's just a cool shot in general.

Assignment #6- Portraits

I liked this assignments. I like shooting portraits, although the subjects can be annoying and not focus at times (namely my brothers). Nevertheless (is that one word??), I love capturing that perfect moment in which a subject shows their personality and lets down their gaurd, even if it's just for a second. That can be really powerful. Enjoy.

I like this a lot. She's so happy, and the lighting is really nice.

Even though she looks way sad, I really like the light and framing. She didn't mean to look this sad, I think she just looked up and it was really bright outside, so she was squinting, that's not really her personality, but... i don't know... maybe she is really sad on the inside and just chooses not to show it.

This is my brother trying to be cool. I like how the angle is up a little- also the lighting is nice

This composition is cool - he's a mess though, I swear he cannot eat anything without getting it all over himself.

So for my self portrait, to not be myself, i dressed up as a ganster! I aimed to make my expression serious and hard.

This is my favorite out of the shoot. I like the lighting and compostition.
I like portraits which are close. They seem more personal i think.
I like this action shot, because the subject forgets there is a camera pointed at them in a moment of pure adrenaline (it was a very steep and rough hill by the way...)
I like this one- maybe a little model-y, but he wasn't trying to be. I like the bright whites of the NEWSPAPER in the background.

For this one I spontainiously pointed the camera at my brother who was waiting for his turn. I caught him off-gaurd. I like the light, again.

Assignment #5- Free Shoot

So, I'm not going to complain, because i liked this one a lot more than the last. But I must say, I like having some guide lines. The lighting in these first ones is really nice, i think. I love the fall colors too. Then one night, i realized i had to shoot more, so i did it while on the way back from a meeting (i wasn't driving though, don't worry) and i experimented with slow shutter-speeds and lights. The rest of the week i really wanted to go back and shoot some more, but even though i don't have play anymore, I still find myself with no time left. I guess it was just a busy homework week. blah. so, i apologize again for not having the best images...

I know everyone shoots mailboxes, and i apologize, but i liked the lighting, and the rust.

I like the lighting in this one too, and how the inside color of my shoes blends with the colors of the leaves

Same here, and I like the shadow. it 'tells a story'

I really like this. Nice light, and aside from the bruises on my feet.... it's a nice composition i think.

This was when we followed a truck. i like it. you can still tell it's a truck, but it's blurry.

I really like this one. i like how it's blurry and shows the motion of the huge flag.

I like how the lights are in the center (for the most part) I just think it's cool.

I don't love this one... shadows are kind of cool though

This is another I took from the first day, the white balance is a little off, you can tell the post is a little blue...

It's my kitty! not the best shot, but cute :)

Extra Credit Halloween Assignment

I finally found time to shoot this! My Dad and brother came with, and insisted on wearing a top hat.... enjoy.

So this is the first shot I made. It was like, 8:30, so it was pretty dark, so the shutter speed was REALLY slow, and he was just walking, but as you can see, he barely showed up at all!

Next, I had him just sway slowly back and forth behind the tomb stone. I like how it turned out!

Dad was just jumping up and down, It's kind of cool though

He was pretending to walk in place...

Swaying again. I like it. I also like the composition of the telephone pole in the foreground

I really like this one. I brought the camera down to eye level, and shot it. The motion of the flag is cool as well

this one's ok, he's blurry in the background

This is cool. He's like a ghost placing flowers on a comrade's grave!

this is the last shot I took. I had my brother and dad walk slowly around it, and this is what turned out. I think it's really erie

Here's some black and white conversions:

Assignment #4- Color Theory

I'm not gonna lie, I did not like this assignment. I found it very difficult to shoot pictures that I liked and that were good. Hence, not very good shots. Im dissapointed with these. Even though I reshot a lot, I barely had time, so I was rushed, and I focused more on finding complementary and analogous colors than making good shots (with good light and composition.) I apologize for lack of creativeness.

This is the only shot I like. Besides the brown, it is analagous, with the yellow and green. I really like the lighting. It's natural light too!

The yellow and green are complementary. It's a cool concept, I think, with filling the frame with the leaf. But, it's just a little soft. I did sharpen it some, but it didn't make much of a difference.

This would be my second favorite if I had to choose one. It's cute, and in focus, and the blacks look nice with the editing I did.

Don't like this. don't even want to comment. but, it is complementary.

These are analagous...ish.... I like the colors

I don't love this shot either, it's a little soft

I know, I know, I did a lot of leaves, but I love fall! and I thought it was cool that there were leaves that were complementary, like these.

This has potential, but it didn't turn out that great. The lighting is ok, so is the focus.

more leaves...yeah...

Analagous! Not the best shot though

more of the same.

Even thought I was outside, the lighting is not very good. Even with the editing, it doesn't 'pop'
So, I'm really sorry for the lack of good photos, (I'm relying on the extra credit assignment to help me!) Next time will be better I promise, because I now have actual free time. Liked the monochromatic one though!
